Trinity Alpha Pod System by Smok Review Reviewed by drew

The new Trinity Alpha by smok is a versatile pod system accepting all nord coils with 3 different power settings.

The new trinity alpha uses a familiar design, but with a little different layout. The pods have color matched metal to match the color of the trinity you get, there are purple, blue, and stainless steel. The devices themselves have metal frames and resin panels, but they feel like plastic, they are available in black with black/white resin, blue with blue/black resin, rainbow with rainbow swirl resin and stainless steel with purple/red and blue/green resin. It also comes with two coils, a .8 MTL mesh with a decently tight draw and a .6 mesh with a much looser draw. for our review we are using a stainless steel frame with purple/red and blue/green resin with matching SS accented pod.

On top you have the typical mouthpiece, it’s a little wider than most, but fits nice and is comfortable, no airflow control on this guy, hes wide open all the time but its not too much airflow, moving over on the pod part of the device you have a nice metal slide to fill cap which is a nice touch, its loose, but not too loose, I haven’t opened it on accident in my use. The pods themselves hold 2.8 ml of juice and are held in by a stury release switch, its not gonna come out on accident but maybe if you drop it hard enough it could. On the side of the device you’ve got resin panels in the color that you have chosen, on the backside of the device you can see the slot that provides airflow to the coil, other than that there’s nothing to see here. On the bottom you just have some holes for the 1,000 mah battery to breathe and your typical branding. On the front of the device you have a nice big firing button and three indicators for hard mode normal mode and soft mode. Below that is a button that alternates between the three modes and then below that is the micro usb charging port.

For this review we will be using the .8Ω MTL Mesh coil. This coil is one of the two it comes with as well as my favorite of the nord coils, as well as the best selling nord coil in our shop. The juice we will be using is a 30mg nic salt, called Django that is a huge favorite of mine, it is a vanilla milk, Kentucky flue cured tobacco and caramel blend. Ive been using this device since we received our demo in shop and ive gotta say it vapes great, regardless of the power setting you get all the notes of the juice across your palate and it hits nice and smooth. With that being said I prefer it on the hard setting but the soft setting is great for morning vaping and I only notice the slightest difference between hard and normal. Battery life is great with the 1000 mah, you should easily be able to get through a day of normal vaping, power users might have to top off the charge but it charges quickly so its not a huge con at all for me.

Overall if I didn’t have an Orion I would pick one of these up. The lanyard is a nice touch, I could do without the smok branding everywhere but it is what it is.

Pros:

  • Solid device
  • Resin looks good enough
  • Pods are thick and should hold up well.
  • Slide to fill
  • Adjustable power
  • Lanyard
  • Color matched pods
  • Nord coils

Cons:

  • So shiny, Fingerprint MAGNET
  • I think the hard setting and the soft setting would have been
  • plenty
  • No adjustable AFC

For a pod system, I would give this a 7.5 out of 10 with the Orion

being a 9 and the nord being a 6.5, the aspire cobble an 8, and

the renova zero being a 7. (For comparison)

That wraps up the review of the trinity alpha by smok. Its solid and

a great choice for anyone looking to get into salt nics or just need

a new device.
